I hadn’t seen Melanie C play in a few years so I sought out a press pass and when it was sorted I was over the moon!

Come Saturday 24th I was dreading the trains cancelling due to the bad weather but to my susprise they ran on time for once! The journey back home took over two hours which usually is a 50 minute journey!

I hadn’t been to the 02 Institute in Digbeth in a while due to illness but its as I remembered – A very cool venue!

Opening up for Melanie C were Sophie And The Giants who blew me away with their cool pop tunes.

The 30 minutes or so they were on stage this three-piece tore their set with passion and to their credit won the audience over!

I’m not susrprised the audience were won over – I was in love!

Sophie Scott the front person is more than just beautiful. This is a woman who’s on a mission and I just loved her stage presecence. I was left in awe to the point I forgot I was there to take photos!

The only sad moment for me is when Sophie And The Giants set ended!

A band to look out for!

9pm it was time for Melanie C to hit the stage and she did it in style with the audience blown away!

It had been a fair while since I saw Mel C play live and from those opening moments of Undefeated Champion I knew this was going to be a top show!

Melanie and her band didn’t let anyone down and they were soon into the second number of the night Free To Love.

At this point the audience along myself were loving what was being delivered!

Five more tracks were delivered in style including Til It Breaks, Emotional Memory and Pressure which blew everyone away before heading into a number of acoustic tracks!

What Could Possibly Go Wrong and Northen Star were the ones I remembered as that point my note taker decided to die on me! I loved every moment of these songs as they added to the nights charm!

Soon Mel was back in full electric form with Touch Me, One Track Mind and Flick Of The Wrist which had everyone moving again.

Melanie’s passing showed through!

A humble and very engaging person with the audience and I was pleased to hear the lovely words she said about the Institute venue which I also love!

With time needing to change a DJ set was thrown in and the final tracks Good For Nothing, Who Do You Think You Are and Spice Up Your Life before I had to leave the venue as the trains by then were cancelling left, right and centre!

This was one show I’m glad to have caught for sure!

Melanie C + her band were amazing!

Thanks to Ruth and Agata at Toast Press for making this happen.
