  • First off I’d like to point out what an apathetic bunch of people there are at times when gigs are not well attended!

On the night Jess Payne was pretty cool as I’ve now seen her acoustic set a couple of times now! On the night the odd mistake was made here and there but on the whole a decent of covers and originals were delivered in style.

Songs such as Riot Grrrl Blues, Grown Up Daycare, Miss World and I Wanna were brilliantly delivered and on that basis I would highly recommend you book Jess a gig or come to see her play.

Main artist of the night was Monica & The Explosion from Sweden. I knew absolutely nothing about her – I did look at a couple of you tube videos and that was about it!

    What did I think?

Monica was bang on the button – Easily the Swedish version of TV Smith.

Despite this being an acoustic set every song came at me and grabbed my attention. Monica also grabbed the the attention of others including a small group who had come in for the karaoke later on that evening!

Those into punk and alternative music who weren’t there certainly missed out big time and I for one hope Monica comes back in the not too distant future!
