5.30pm I had a message from Luke from The Skate Punx asking me if I would like a ticket for The Buzzcocks at The Robin. I knew Nikki was driving to the gig so asked her for a lift and the rest is history.

Note: The photos I took of this show are taken on a mobile phone as I didn’t have time to obtain a photo pass.

On arrival at the venue we headed off to the bar and then grabbed a seat just as Class Of 79 were about to hit the stage!

I’ll be honest I’m not too keen on cover bands but from the very start Class Of 79 took punk rock to a different level. Everyone seemed to enjoy them and a few even had a boogie!

These guys have pedigree with being members of The Rezillos, The Selecter and more!

A punk royalty line-up!

They played tunes by SLF, The Ruts, The Members, The Skids and many more!

For 45 minutes these guys delivered the good and I would love to see them again!

Lets face it The Buzzcocks are punk rock royalty in their own right and this was a gig I almost missed because of health issues getting worse! I made the show and I was going to enjoy it despite the pain!

As soon as The Buzzcocks hit the stage there was no messing around and it was straight into What Do I Get before steaming into other classics such as Everybody’s Happy, Promises and Fast Cars to name but a few!

The crowd were loving what was on offer and the tunes came thick and fast!

Here’s their full set list:

I was surprised to see a few near the bar on their mobile phones as they were missing out on a band playing their hearts out!

The band never tired and it just got better with Autonomy, Destination Zero, Orgasm Addict, Chasing Rainbows, Ever Fallen In Love and closing with Harmony In My Head.

For well over a hour the band delivered and by the end I couldn’t see a unhappy face in the audience!

It was a shame the gig had to finish but I’m glad it did as my old bones were falling apart!

Top Night for sure!

Many thanks to Luke from The Skate Punx and Nikki for driving!
