Late morning / early afternoon I was at Shrewsbury Pride having a blast, meeting new people, having my photo taken etc and by 2pm I was thinking do I have enough energy for the Subhumans show in Wolverhampton!
Come 5pm I mustered the energy to get ready for the show and quickly got ready to catch the 6.20pm train in to Wolverhampton!
No delays – That’s a first!
On arrival at the Dive I bumped into Marco who was DJ for the night and I also bumped into Dave and Karen from Tomorrow Burns. Hadn’t seen these folks in ages so it was good to hear about their new band!

I didn’t have to wait long for Tomorrow Burns as they were first band on at 7.30pm.
What do I think?
I thought they were great considering this was their third gig and their eighties punk sound with a modern touch grabbed people’s attention and rightfully so!
For thirty minutes Tomorrow Burns delivered the goods and Dave’s used of the mega phone to sing and for effects was a really cool idea= that works!
A band to watch out for in the future!

Next up were The Scumbags who sound like a cross between Screeching Weasel and The Descendents and with it pack a punch!
Seen these guys four times now and they never disappoint – They should be bigger than they actually are!
Once you experience The Scumbags there’s no turning back and their 30 minute set which consisted of originals and two covers was proof of that!
They finished on a high dedicating the song to a friend who sadly took his own life a few weeks back!
A band to look out for!

After a 30 minute break it was time for the Subhumans to hit the stage!
I was looking forward to seeing Dick and Co play as I had only seen them play the UK in the eighties. The other two occasions I saw them live was in the USA.
The Subhumans were taking no prisoners tonight kicking off with Apathy before steam rolling into New Age, Poison, Internal Riot, Animal, Subvert City and Rats.
It’s fair to saw Dick and co were on fire tonight with their excellent and unique anarcho-punk sound!
There was just no stopping Dick as he was all over the small stage and engaging the crowd with political speeches as he introduced the songs!

The crowd was loving this set as much as I was!
For a hour or so the Subhumans delivered the goods and the audience were loving it with plenty of dancing, chanting and even one guy storm the stage to try and sing!
For me this was the best show I’d been to in two years.
From the vibe of the audience, top bands and a great sound as well as a compact venue has ingrained a memory in my head to last a life time!
Well done to Ross and co for putting the gig on. Thanks also to Mark Pearson for the ticket! Thanks also to Cherry and Tom for the ride home!
