Seeing Blackgold in Wolverhampton was pretty much a last minute gig for me as I’m still recovering from an operation to repair a bodge job from a previous operation back in March!

Friday 12th September soon arrives and I set off to the venue via seeing my dentist for a check up that in itself turned into a bit of nightmare!

The train journey was uneventful although the walk to the venue pretty much battered me especially lugging a heavy camera and lens!

On arrival at the venue I have a chat with staff I hadn’t seen in ages due to the serious health issues preventing me from attending gigs. I also met the awesome Steph Van Spronsen who looks after Black Gold.

Soon it was time for the opening act to hit the stage!

As soon as Deadwax hit the stage and started playing I knew I was going to enjoy this Yorkshire based band who blew me away!

Deadwax fuse Metal, Grime and Hardcore and boy they’re a pleasure to watch especially the Jake the vocalist who bounces around the stage like a man possessed.

This is the first time I’d seen this band let alone heard of them but they’re certainly a band that I want to see again in the West Midlands!

Deadwax in their thirty minutes on stage never compromised at all and the audience loved what they heard. I can’t blame them really as this explosive set was a delight!

After having a thirty minute break it was time for Blackgold to hit the stage. I first came across this band supporting the mighty Bob Vylan at KK’s last year and was blown away by their sound and looks!

I don’t know if Blackgold have revealed their identities but I’ve seen people claim they’re members of Quemists and a few other bands. I don’t really care as these guys kick ass whoever they are!

Masked up and ready to entertain these guys delivered in style and the audience were going nuts.

Fusing metal and hip-hop with plenty of samples thrown in this band should be much bigger than they are and on Friday they were taking no prisoners!

Jaysus! I wanted to rock out myself but realised if I did I’d probably end up back in hospital or wreck £2000 worth of camera equipment or even both!

Despite not knowing much about Blackgold I really enjoyed their set but had to leave thirty minutes into their set due to train cancellations – Our railways are a bloody nightmare!

Blackgold deserve to be on larger stages – Those stages work for them! The smaller stages I feel stifles them a tad! However I enjoyed what I saw and even purchased their album.

If you want to see a superb multi-genre band then Blackgold are the band to see. This KK’s set was one of the most pleasurable gigs I’d seen in a long time!

Always THINK Blackgold – You’ll love them!
