I’ve sat on this CD for a while like so many others as I recover from my health issues and here’s what I think of the self-titled album from Stoke’s finest!

Having seen The Friendly Campaign a few times over the years and how great they are live I knew this album was going to be a decent release and they didn’t disappoint!

While they don’t completely capture the intensity of their live performances this album is certainly worth a punt as this is a honest album filled with sixties influenced power-pop tunes!

Kicking off with Thursday you’re drawn into the crazy world of The Friendly Campaign and that isn’t a bad think especially when you get to the 4th track Ray Davies Reg + Me. This Kinks inspired track is my fave song on the album and if written by the Kinks this would now be a classic.

If that wasn’t enough the album carries on with top tunes with She Flies, Magic Carpet Ride and the closing number Dark Skies.

As I said this self titled beauty is filled with catchy guitar hooks and driving bass lines all kept in time with Paul Hankey on drums. If that wasn’t enough the dual vocals from Gary and Denise add to the charm!

A honest album this certainly is and DIY too and I love it! 8.5/10
