Midway Still, Dealing With Damage and Mega Fishy Four played a blinder the previous year at this venue and I was thinking could they replicate such an epic gig a year on?

I kept asking myself the same question as the train ride into Birmingham was far from smooth and at one point I just wanted to get off and head back home!

Eventually I reached Birmingham New Street and headed off to the Sunflower Lounge which was a 5 minute stroll away. On reaching the venue I was greeted by some of the Mega Fishy Four lads.

First up were Mega Fishy Four a tribute band dedicated to Mega City Four. This was one of the first times that the vocalist / guitarist had gigged after losing a leg through cancer!

Could they pull this off like they did in 2023?

Of Course they fucking did!

To be honest I thought they were better than last year. Not being able to play was a huge possibility and health must come first but added to their passion.

Some of Mega City Four’s songs were delivered in style and I was singing along to Miles Apart.

The crowd were loving it as much as I was!

What a blast!

After a brief cooling down and a Blue WKD it was time for London’s answer to Fugazi to hit the stage. Dealing With Damage played a blinder especially their new bassist who fits in so well!

These guys never fail to deliver and played like their lives depended on it! I don’t know where they find their energy from as they’re a similar age to me and I’m knackered at this point just taking photos!

I really love Dealing With Damage and I think they’re up there in my top three of live favourite bands!

If you haven’t seen them then you must check them out!

I love Midway Still and like the other two bands they upped their game and delivered a top punk rock set filled with passion. I really don’t know who to describe these guys in action – They just have to be seen to be believed!

Such the intensity and heat I had to keep going back up the stairs to have a breather. This gig was hot and sweaty. It was the same last year. A real 80’s punk vibe kicking off here and brought back some top memories.

Midway Still know how to pay and they know how to draw their audience in and Wednesday night was no different!

These three lads had to contend with a midweek gig and an England game!

I know where I’d rather be!

Roll on Summer 2025 for the same line-up!

Wednesday night has been one of my favourite gigs of 2024!

Thanks to James Sherry and Dark Disco for the press pass.
