With a few happenings on the day I blew New Model Army out at the Halls in Wolverhampton to attend this gig. On arriving at the venue I got in pretty quickly and was blown away at how great the venue was. However the proof in the pudding would have to wait until I heard the sound.

First band on I don’t recall their name. Apologies for that. an Indie / Rock band that were ok but did have some moments that shone through! While the vocalist had a great voice she didn’t use it to draw the audience in. She needs to up the tempo a bit! While the band could play they again need to up the temp and the guitarist at the back needs to take that silly thing off his guitar head! Not a bad band as I say but they need to up their game to get more gigs!

Next up were my new favourite band Boom Boom Womb who I’ve seen three times in the past few weeks. They keep it simple, keep it real and in doing so deliver the goods every time. Personally speaking I thought they blew the main support off stage! Imagine Bikini Kill crossed with The Muffs and you get a great idea to how this band sound. They’re the real deal and lovely people. Go and see them play!

Next up were Passive Fix who I’ve heard lots of good things about! However with technical hitches the band were left without a bass and that’s because they complicate things! They need to make their live set-up less complicated. However shit happens and no one’s died so hope they bounce back from this. What they offered I did enjoy and their post-hc / rock sound did for me! I hope to see them play again in the not too distant future!

Final band of the night were Chasing Mallory and they did themselves proud! While not my usual taste in music they were well up for this show and really delivered on every song! Vocalist Remy had already bashed the hell out of her drum kit with Boom Boom Womb and here she was singing as if her life depended on it! You need to hear Remy sing – Amazing. The band were on top of their game and I enjoyed every minute of their set. They fuse emo, rock and pop punk together and its infectious. Never seen them before and it wont be the last time either!

Final words go to the Firefly. Superb venue with a banging sound. I highly recommend bands use this venue. Thanks to Gemma for sorting this out for me!
