Last night public transport was a nightmare and then just as The Gaslight Anthem were to hit the stage my camera had a hissy fit and no spare one on hand either hence the lack of photos in this review.
My love affair with The Gaslight Anthem goes back to 2007 where I was sent their debut album Sink Or Swim to review. Review it I did. I loved what these guys were about. They were doing something cool and not the type of band I listened to usually. The album got a great review from me.
From then on I had the next two albums to review and caught up with The Gaslight Anthem on their UK tour!
Last night was the first time I caught up with these guys in a few years and I didn’t have to wait long to see if they still had it!
They did!
From the moment Brian Fallon and co hit the stage they had a captivated audience who were as pleased as me to see them back in action!
Number after number The Gaslight Anthem delivered and the audience were loving it! I was too! It’s the first time I’ve danced my ass off at a gig like this in a long time! I was enjoying myself that much my breasts popped out my dress. Thank god for bikini bras!
Sometimes there was a bit too smoke on the stage for me but that’s my only grumble! Everything else was bang on the ball!
To my surprise they had support act Emily Wolfe on stage for two numbers. Emily is a top act in her own right and I hope many in the audience check out her music!
The Gaslight Anthem show was the best thing I’d seen this year and those in attendance would agree. Everyone seemed to be having a good time including a couple in front of me who were embracing each other in acts of love throughout the show. The man was singing along to his girlfriend – Both loved the show!
I can’t believe how 90 minutes went so fast but it did and I like others just wanted the band to play on forever.
Having left the show with a huge smile and feeling really good I realised I’d have to use the awful public transport system to get back home!
Anyone not at the show really did miss out and I can’t wait for these guys to come back to the UK!
Thanks to A.J. of Iffey Management for sorting out the Press / Photo Pass.
