Formed in 1978 after the break-up of the Angelic Upstarts these are not to be confused with the Australian band of the same name!

Roll on 2023 and I get an email from Bri Smith the bassist of the Fauves and based on their history I wasn’t going to pass this up!

This CD made it in tact to my house although there was a bit of grief between the Postie and my dog Mollie. Why you’d enter a garden knowing an American Bullog was going to come charging out the door is anyone’s guess?

As soon I sorted out the batttle between postie and dog I eagerly put this release in my CD player and hoped for the best!

From the opening moments of the title track ‘Resistance 22‘ I knew this was going to be a cracking album and it didn’t dissapoint!

This album is filled with cracking high energy punk rock tunes from start to finish with songs such as ‘Tax Me When I’m Dead‘, ‘Sleeping Rough‘, ‘Shower Of Fanatics‘ and ‘Inject The Poison‘.

The closing track ‘Looking In The Mirror‘ starts off haunting. I guess similar to Solidarity by the Upstarts and then drives straight into a full punk rock sound – Catchy guitar with a driving bass line just how I love my punk rock to be played. A fantastic closure to this album!

Not one filler – Just catchy punk rock that needs to be heard!

Influence wise if you can imagine the Angelic Upstarts crossed with the UK Subs with a bit of early Blitz thrown in for good measure and you get an idea just how great The Fauves sound.

Production wise is pretty much bang on and my copy came with a shiny card and a Fauves beer mat so this chick was happy!

Go on and buy the album – This release deserves to be huge!

Catch them live at Rebellion! 9/10
