I’m a huge Paranoid Visions fan. Lets face it it they’re one of the few unique punk bands that keep on giving rather than drifting into sounding repetitive like so many other bands in the scene. That’s a great thing as Paranoid Visions have been at it for years and have aged like a fine wine!
To be honest when I ordered this slab of vinyl I actually thought I had purchased an EP. Don’t know why but I must admit to have been blown away when I saw the album sitting on my garden fence next to the post box!
On opening the package I was a little overwhelmed at how beautifully ‘Live’ has been put together. The colours of the product show Paranoid Vision’s support for the people of Ulkraine people and their struggle against Putin / Russia.
What made this for me is there’s only 100 albums pressed and every single one has a different cover. Mine has Aoife Destruction singing on the front. The photo Cormac Figgis captured of Aoife is absolutely amazing! Aoife looks absolutely stunning!
On the reverse side of the front cover are all one hundred images that Cormac has taken of the band over the years and they’re all stunning images. I wish I’d purchased all 100 copies now, haha!
On to the record itself this has to be one of the best live albums I’ve heard. The sound is almost faultless and captures Paranoid Visions at their best. The eight tracks are taken from their live set at the Grand Social in Dublin back in September 2022.
Kicking off on the A-Side is ‘Fan The Flames‘ which is a great opener and the quality continues with ‘An Bhfuil Tu Sasta‘, ‘Braindance‘, ‘Strange Girl‘ and closing with ‘Politician‘.
On the B-Side delivers three more numbers. These are ‘Across The Holocaust‘, ‘Missing In Action‘ and ‘Outsider Artist‘ which closes this amazing record.
What a sound! What a perfomance from this legendary EIRE outfit!
I presume the vinyl copies are now sold out but this is worth getting a digital release just to hear just Deko Dacha and co sound how great they are live! Paranoid Visions have certainly delivered the goods on this release! 10/10
