The Sadistic Slobs aren’t the greatest band on the planet and this album isn’t the greatest album ever but these guys are honest and like them this album is honest. No pretence and all that!
This album is about four mates wanting to make some music for themselves and their mates and that’s why SSFLMI is so good! There’s no studio trickery or gimmicks or anything like that. The Slobs have kept it simple and in doing so deliver some catchy punk rock!
This ten track ego free album kicks off with ‘Give Ova Jova’ and the fun continues with tracks such as ‘Uncle Brenda’, ‘Mad Ivan’, ‘I Wanna Dance With Bill Oddie’ and ‘Iron Lung’. You really can’t go wrong with this album despite there being no stand out tracks. Who cares anyway? .
The inside of the gatefold sleeve features photos of their mates along with the odd photo of their freinds and as I said earlier they’re never going to set the world aligh and neither do they wish too! They wrote an album with honest intentions – Its a shame more bands don’t go down this route to be honest!
The vinyl is funky – Splatter coloured vinyl and a coloured vinyl that sounds good on my deck. Usually I have skipping issues with coloured vinyl so well done to whoever pressed this!
So there you have it an album written by four lads from the North East who live in the real world and that’s all that matters! 8/10
