It’s been almost 35 years since the Newtown Neurotics and when I fiound out this album only contained 8 tracks I was a little disheartened until I played it! From the very start of ‘Cognitive Dissidents’ it sounds as if the Newtown Neurotics hadn’t been away! This is what you’d expect from this three-piece. The tunes are still there and the lyrics are socialist fuelled. Song like ‘Liar, Liar (Pants On Fire) and ‘Take Your Dirty Hands Off Our Town’ are no nonsense songs that are non-comprising numbers we’ve . There’s no filler on this release and tracks such as ‘Hope’ and ‘Stand With You’ prove this. If you’re into honest working class music with a voice this band and album are for you! 9/10
